I’m all about getting free money into the hands of people doing good work. Thanks to Katya Andreson’s Nonprofit Marketing Blog today, I found out about a contest that will do just that. The Chase Community Giving Grant helps local nonprofits win an equal share of $5M in grant money. Here’s how it works:

1) Chase Bank customers and employees can nominate their favorite charitable organization by July 9 at their local Chase branch or by visiting Chase.com/ChaseGiving.

2) Only 501(c)3 public charities with annual operating expenses of less than $10M are eligible for nomination.

3) Once your nomination is approved, tell your network (and have the organization tell their network!) so they can vote in September to win a portion of the $5M. The public voting will happen September 6-19, and Chase will choose the top 196 charities to win.

Please note: I’m not affiliated with Chase, other than being a bank customer. I already nominated one of my favorite charities in Hawaii – A Keiki’s Dream Program, a small heart-centered nonprofit that serves Maui’s neediest children by granting child-directed dreams. I’ve seen this program truly change the lives of the children it serves by showing them how to believe in themselves.

Who will you nominate? Tell me who your favorite charity is and why.

Here’s to helping spread the word in the hopes that some great nonprofits will win some grants.
